After three weeks of deliberations a jury has failed to reach a verdict in the case of three men charged with terrorist offences related to bombings in London on 7 July 2005. The bombings killed 52 people and injured nearly 800.
The judge has decided to dismiss the jury and has remanded the three defendents into Custody pending a hearing in late September. The judge is working on the assumption that there will be a retrial and that it is likley that any retrial will be in the new Year.
The Crown Prosecution Service is considering carefully whether to seek a retrial in the case. All three were charged with conspiracy to cause an explosion and all deny the charge (although all admit that they knew the 7/7 bombers)
