A former Glasgow student has won a small success in his bid to have his convictoin for terrorist related offences overturned. Today three grounds of appeal have been agreed to be taken forward.
The grounds of appeal being lodged by Donald Findlay QC (acting on behalf of Mohammed Atif Siddique) have not yet been released to the public. The case has been continued for six weeks and it is expected that an applictation for bail (pending the full appeal hearing) will be made when the appeal next goes before the Court of Criminal Appeal. The full appeal may not be heard until next year.
Siddique’s solicitor, Aamer Anwar, was recently cleared of contempt relating to comments he made outside the High Court of Justicary in Glasgow following Sidique’s conviction.
