The Lord Advocate, The Rt. Hon. Elish Angiolini QC, has lodged an appeal against the sentence of James Simpson. The 16 year old was sentenced to four years in prison following being convicted of the culpable homicide of father-of-two Steven Jones.
Simpson was origionally charged with murder, but the jury found him guilty in the alternative. The Lord Advocate can appeal any sentence which she feels is unduly lenient.
